Description
It's summer in NYC and there are many hibiscus plants in the planters on the upper east side. However, this bright vermilion beauty caught my eye. The color, the delicacy of the petals, paper thin and the bold stamen. It is said that local girls put it behind their left ear to show "I hope to have a lover" and behind their right ear to say "I already have a lover." One commentator asks, what if they put it behind both ears? And suggests that maybe they want to say "I have a lover, but I hope for another."
